SGA Elections Held

SGA Elections

Student Government Association elections were held at the Enterprise Campus of Enterprise-Ozark Community College.  Students gathered to vote and enjoy a break chatting with each other, music, free drinks and cotton candy, and beautiful weather.  EOCC's Student Government Association is composed of four officers, seven sophomore senators, and seven freshman senators.  The purposes of the SGA are to provide liaison between students and the faculty and administration, to promote social and cultural opportunities for students, and to approve and charter all organizations which function on the campus.

Special Course for Area Employees

Employees of area businesses and industries can upgrade their skills in Excel 2007 for Business at the Enterprise Campus of Enterprise-Ozark Community College.  This specially designed course prepares employees to work proficiently in the Excel 2007 program.  The course will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, October 6-20, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at a fee of $90.  For more information about this and additional training for employees, contact Carol Holbrook at (334) 347-2623, ext. 2208 or e-mail cholbrook@eocc.edu.


Breast Cancer and Women's Health Issues Forum Scheduled

Coffee County Breast Cancer and Women's Health Issues Forum will be held at the Enterprise City School Service Center on Tuesday, October 7, 8:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m.  Registration is from 7:30-8:30 a..m. 

Among the presenters will be Dr. Kirby Bland, Chief of Surgery at The University of Alabama at Birmingham.  His topic is "Tumor markers, stage and grade: what is important and what does it all mean?"

Second Mini-term Starts Soon

Enterprise-Ozark Community College's Enterprise Campus will open its second mini-term on October 16.  Specific courses being offered during the day include Principles of Accounting II, Principles of Economics II, English Literature II, Intermediate Swimming, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate College Algebra, Precalculus Algebra, and Precalculus Trigonometry.  Registration for these courses continues through October 20.  For more information contact the Enterprise Campus at (334) 347-2623 or go online at www.eocc.edu.

Enterprise-Ozark Community College's Fort Rucker Site will hold a second mini-term for evening classes.  Specific courses being offered are Principles of Accounting II, Business Statistics I, Microcomputer Applications, Introduction to Networking Communications, Networking Lab, Principles of Economics II, Children's Creative Experiences, Introduction to Corrections, Western Civilization II, United States History II, Human Growth and Development, Statistics for the Social Sciences, Introduction to Sociology, and Elementary Algebra.  The second mini-term will begin on October 16, and registration for courses continues through October 20.  For more information contact the Fort Rucker Site at (334)598-3438 or go online to www.eocc.edu.

ACT Educators' Workshop
ACT Educators' Workshop is an informational workshop designed for high school guidance counselors and principals. Continuing education units are available from ACT the day of the workshop.  Contact ACT to register.  October 10, Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-Noon.

Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People
If you yearn to experience the joy of playing piano, but you don't want years of weekly lessons, this short course is for you.  In just one enjoyable evening, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to make piano playing a part of your life, learning chords, not notes.  You'll learn all the chords needed to play any song, any style, any key.  And you'll get a healthy dose of insider secrets like how to embellish songs.  This is an absolutely beginning class in chord piano techniques, and if you can find middle C and know the meaning of "Every Good Boy Does Fine," you already know enough to enroll.  If not, send a self-addressed stamped envelope for a helpful free pamphlet to Music Masters, 90 Molly Lane, Ringgold, GA  30736.  Then register with confidence!  The registration fee is $50, and the instructor will collect an additional $25 in class for book and a 68-minute practice CD.  October 27, Monday, from 6:00.-9:00 p.m.  Fee: $50 (additional $25 for book & practice CD).  Registration Deadline:  October 20.

Leisure Swimming is an opportunity for individuals or family members to maintain fitness through swimming. Leisure swim is open only to people who already have swimming skills. The pool will be available approximately 20 hours per week beginning Friday, August 22. Individual fees - $50; family membership fees - $65. NO REGISTRATION DEADLINE.

OZARK CAMPUS

Computers for Seniors
This is a beginning computer class designed exclusively for seniors with limited computer experience.  Students will be introduced to the Internet and will learn how to set up a free e-mail account, will be introduced to the computer keyboard, taught basic computer terminology, and get hands-on experience with the Microsoft Word software package.  At the conclusion of this four-session course, students should be able to overcome their fear of computer usage, understand the basic functions of a computer keyboard, and gain a sense of the potential for computer use in their home, work, and/or educational environment.  Bring a 3 1/2" disk to the first class.  November 4-13, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:00 a.m.-Noon.  Fee:  $45.  Registration Deadline:  October 28.

Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Excel will teach you to turn your computer into an electronic calculator.  Students will learn the basics of Microsoft Excel software and at the conclusion of the eight-hour class students should be able to understand the fundamentals of spreadsheets by creating inventory or payroll reports.  It would be helpful for students to have some prior experience using a computer, and students should bring a 3 1/2" disk to the first class session.  November 3-12, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  Fee $45.  Registration Deadline:  October 27.

REFUND POLICY:  If a course is cancelled, all persons enrolled will be notified and full refunds will be made.  Anyone who registers and then decides to withdraw from a course may request a refund.  All requests must be received in writing.  A full refund is made when a request is received prior to the first scheduled class meeting.  A 75% refund is made when a request is received before the second scheduled class meeting.  Refunds are not made after the second scheduled class meeting.


Free Adult Education Classes
Adult education classess provide adults an opportunity to learn to read, prepare for the GED test of high school equivalency, or learn English as a second language. All classes are free and are offered at various locations. If you are 16 years old or older and not enrolled in public school, you are eligible. You must take an Assessment Test prior to attending classes.  BASIC SKILLS/PREPARATION FOR THE GED TEST teaches basic skills in reading, English, and mathematics and/or prepares you for the GED test of high school equivalency.  Individualized instruction is available.  Some locations also offer computerized instruction.
  • The EOCC Enterprise Campus, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 a.m.-Noon and from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in Wallace Hall, Room 202.
  • The EOCC Ft. Rucker site,Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:00 a.m.-Noon in Bldg. 4502, Room 301.
  • The EOCC Ozark Aviation Campus, Monday and Wednesday, from 9:00-Noon, and Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in Steagall Hall, Room 112.

Prior to attending classes, students must complete a preliminary test. Enrollment is open at any time and at any session. Individualized instruction is available. Additional Adult Educational sites will be provided upon request. Also, adults who pass the GED Test will be given a one-course scholarship to attend any two-year college in Alabama. Free ESL Classes
FREE classes in English as a Second Language for non-native speakers are offered at Enterprise-Ozark Community College's Enterprise Campus. Three separate sessions are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 6:00-8:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. with a computer lab open from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. To find out more call 347-2623, ext. 2218.  FREE classes are also offered at Slocomb High School in Room 120. The classes are scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-9:00 p.m.  To find out more information at Slocomb call 684-5690.

Literacy Volunteer Tutor Training Workshop
This workshop teaches volunteers how to tutor adult non-readers and low-level learners.  You'll examine the psychology of the adult learner, the use of Laubach reading materials and consider other methods for teaching adults . For more information, call 334-347-2623, ext. 2218.

Free Adult Ed and ESL Training
Training is now offered FREE at Enterprise-Ozark Community College for those persons interested in volunteering assistance for regularly scheduled Adult Education or English as a Second Language classes. Volunteers are needed for tutoring, computer software assistance, recordkeeping, clerical, testing, and new student orientation. For more information, call 334-347-2623, ext. 2218.

GED Testing
The GED Test of High School Equivalency will be administered spring semester at Enterprise-Ozark Community College. Also, adults who pass the GED Test will be given a one-course scholarship to attend any two-year college in Alabama. For more information about taking the test and dates for testing, call 347-2623, ext. 2295.  Accommodations can be requested for GED Testing.  FREE classes to assist students in preparing for the exam are available at the EOCC Main Campus, the Ft. Rucker Site, and the Ozark Campus, as well as other sites in Coffee, Dale, Geneva, and Pike Counties. For more information about the classes, call 347-2623, ext. 2218.
